Most days, I’m in the classroom teaching. But some mornings, you’ll find me behind my coffee cart, steaming oat milk and pulling espresso shots for a crowd. Blasia’s Coffee & Tea started as a way to feel better. I wanted to share something warm and nourishing with others, and somehow it grew into a whole new part of my life. Starting a coffee cart has not been an easy journey, but I’d like to reflect on why I began in the first place.
Taking it back to the beginning: in late October, I experienced extreme digestive issues. I cut back on my caffeine intake, making it almost zero, just to get my stomach back on track. It was terrifying to imagine a world without coffee in the morning. For someone who’s been drinking coffee every morning since at least age 14, the thought of quitting felt like my world was slowly breaking at the seams because I wouldn’t be able to enjoy my favorite part of each new day. As I looked for solutions, I turned to low-acidic options, which made my mornings brighter. But even the sun casts a shadow.
My family and I had weekly coffee and breakfast meet-ups on weekends to stay connected since everyone had moved out of the house. After my digestive issues caught up to me, on the outside everything seemed the same, but on the inside, things had changed. I could no longer go to new coffee shops and try new drinks without feeling the repercussions moments later. Something I once cherished felt insignificant now. Somewhere out there, I knew I couldn’t be the only person who felt this way. In that moment, the smallest spark illuminated the darkest blank page.
That single spark grew to a steady flame and quickly burst into a blazing fire that hasn’t stopped since. Some people can relate to the pain or struggle caffeine can bring, but my coffee cart is more than that. It’s like a soft blanket wrapped around your busy day, a gathering spot where strangers become friends, and a pause button for the spinning circle we stand on every day. I will continue to pour love, positivity, and kindness into every cup of coffee or tea, even on days when the world feels unbalanced. This may be my first blog post, but it’s just the start of my journey. I hope you’ll care to navigate this adventure with me and see it to the fullest.
Thank you for reading and being part of this beginning. I’m excited to share more stories, flavors, and moments with you as Blasia’s Coffee & Tea grows. If you’re curious, have questions, or just want to say hi, feel free to reach out; I’d love to connect!
